WHY WON'T YOU RUN IN THE RAIN AND PLAY
LET THE TEARS SPLASH ALL OVER YOU.
-dave matthews
POEM.

i hung out in a cemetery today.
headstones with moss and misspellings.
i stood upon the grass that ate the souls of the dead.
how do you think the grass is so green here?
listen.

flowers that float on the ocean floor tell lies.
the lies are full of black death
and horrible luck.
don't think with your eye, never pick one up.
poem

my body is a temple for one man.
he who is holy, gets to see the real me.
my body is full of gold.
my dreams are beautiful.
don't try and hurt my soul.
my body is a temple for one man.
you are forever late and it drives me mad.
man, it drives me sad.

piano fingertips.

look for my soul burrowed in the back yard
you'll find my bones.
right next to your neighbor's dead dog.
my mind still lingers down the hall.
i'm not that tall as an angel,
fire scares me now and i can't explain how.
the sound of your voice reaches my heart.
i feel your tone in my soul,
the thing i've been waiting for all my life.

a smell as ants.

old bicycle wheels against the trunks of the trees
cats walking in pine needles and getting fleas.
sixty six cents for a handful of bubblegum.
