Wednesday

Bone dry sky.
Melt
My thoughts.
You can sQueeze
My brain-
But when it rains
Will you be
There?
My flowers need
The sunlight
To grow.

Am I waiting for the devil?
Or angels?
Can’t tell between
The dust and rust
The orange peels
And cigarette butts
This is us-
Is there any chance?
Anywhere-
Past or even the future?
As my eyes cry lemons
My heart bleeds blood
Can I take this much longer?
I can’t tell anymore
      Numb.

If I just stand still
If I just balance
For one minute
If I just hold my breath if I just close my
Eyes until the black couldn’t
Get more black
Take my bones to the sea
The clouds told me the sea is the
Only place where broken hearts
Like salt

i could be roots
growing strong
up the house
to find warmth
between the windowsills

i could be a bird\
hungry in the painted grey skies
to hunt for a home
so high up above
make a space safe

home.

Trying to understand why you eat the banana peels
I wake up with a different face on
I try to understand the color that
paints your eyes. I want to know
      what makes you feel
safe on a dark, Friday night.

I just want to watch you fall asleep.
I will patiently wait, for as long as it takes.
I promise to keep you safe, when the
Rain falls on your skin and
Your dreams turn bad.
I promise to love you until the end.
Delicate as the night’s wind. Most prominent sin.
I can’t help it,
you make me fit in this skin.

Tuesday

Lullabies just to get by.

I’ve swallowed too many feelings again-
I really did. My mind spins and spins, I can’t
Seem to stand straight. My mom sings me to
Sleep because she’s afraid the liquor might
Win. I can’t control the feelings I’m in, I can’t
Get out of this mess. Spread across the wall,
Thin. Can’t stress the stress I wear where I
Should grin. Throwing up, the past ten
Years of this life…….and I see no end.
Stick this needle to my brain as for
I feel no more pain.
