Sunday

i used to live where children would run free
they would dance to the trees music and
laugh as big as the world.
you would see flowers taller than thee,
grass here never got mowed.
and the stars, at night, would glow
 an amethyst purple. rocks stacked
while the river flows.

  everything going so fast
driving by while
we
chase the moon
with a sky full of our
love
and a full cherry moon
slow down
    for one minute

sorry i couldn’t tell
which way
we were going
because the road
began to melt
it began to dance
we became one
 sorry i couldn’t tell
which way
we were going
because the road
had no lines only
shadows kissing
in the moonlight

peculiar minds
      ring in the silence
the dogs ear, the hogs
set up for breakfast
    a line of strange
    men outside the front
door only
to lick the women
  whom confess to
making love to
other men

the table is set for
dinner
   the mice are away for
feeding
if anything comes of this
mess, this disastrous mess
   you can let the farmer
hay the fields, you
can suck the strange
right out of me, but
you can't hold
   my soul anymore

placid words (thoughts disintegrate)
  on the kitchen floor
as her body, on the floor
               spread thin
nothing to hide the noise
nothing to take the fear
shadows dancing, caught
her eye
outside temperatures
    fry her golden brain
like the eggs she ate
for Friday's breakfast
     as i sit, silently,
patiently
   outside-
all that    fills the air
is his guitar and the graceful
           sound of the river
water making way downstream
full of August sunsets
and dead dreams
